Video: Rushdie Writes as Marriage Crumbles

British author Salman Rushdie says he sought refuge from the "wreckage" of his latest divorce in writing his new book. Rushdie's latest novel "The Enchantress of Florence" is about court intrigue in Florence and the Mughal era city of Fatehpur Sikri. The Indian born writer says he sought refuge in writing the book at a time when his fourth marriage, to TV host Padma Lakshmi, was crumbling. Siddhartha Dubey reports.

Video: Satanic Verses On Stage

A German theatre has produced the first stage version of Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses.

Rushdie's fourth novel, published in 1988, created an outcry among many Muslims, including death threats and a fatwa issued by Ayatollah Khomeini, then the head of Iran.
